Abstract:Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is the cognitive dysfunction of a transitional stage between nor- mal aging and dementia, and also is a clinical syndrome for a chief complaint of memory impairment complaints and objective cognitive impairment. Many individuals with MCI are at the prodromal stage of Alzheimer's disease (AD) or other dementia. Functional magnetic resonance imaging is an emerging technology, not only to be capable of display- ing human physiological and pathophysiological processes, but also to provide dynamic and functional information, and to be recognized as an effective method of the early diagnosis and assessment of MCI. Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ('H-MRS) metabolite markers may help identify and track etiologies that typically underlie MCI in the el- derly. The role of proton MRS has become a research hotspot in recent years.
Keywords:Functional magnetic resonance imaging  Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy  Mild cogni-tive impairment  Dementia  Alzheimer's disease
