| Abstract: | Spontaneous rupture of transplanted kidneys, although uncommon, requires recognition in view of the increasing number of patients subjected to renal transplantation. The etiologic mechanism of spontaneous rupture and our experience with hyperacute rejection associated with spontaneous rupture are discussed. Immunopathologic aspects of hyperacute rejection are correlated with the clinical course, diagnosis, and treatment of spontaneous rupture of transplanted kidneys. |
