Abstract:Objective To determine the percentage of T-cell subsets and the double-negative regulatory T cells in peripheral blood of hand foot mouth disease (HFMD) patients and the clinical significance of these T cell subsets. Methods The percentage of T-cell subsets and the double-negative regulatory T cells of CD3^+, CD3^+CD4ˉ CD8^+, CD3^+CD4^+CD8^+, CD3^+CD4^+CD8ˉ and CD3^+CD4ˉCD8ˉ in the peripheral blood of 46 patients with HFMD and 17 control subjects were determined by flow cytometry. Results Compared with the control subjects, the percentage of CD3^+, CD3^+CD4ˉCD8^+ and CD3^+CD4ˉCD8ˉ in patients with HFMD was significantly decreased (P 〈 0.05). The percentage of CD3^+CD4^+CD8^+, CD3^+CD4^+CD8ˉ and the ratio of CD4/CD8 were not significantly changed (P 〉 0.05). There was no sex and age difference in the percentage of T-cell subsets in the HFMD patients. Conclusion The immunologic function of HFMD patients was abnormal.
Keywords:T cell subsets  CD3^+CD4ˉCD8ˉ  double-negative regulatory T cells  hand foot mouth disease
