| Abstract: | The projection from the nucleus locus coeruleus (LC)to the olfactory tubercle (OT)has been studied with the method of retrograde axonal transport of HRP in 20 rats. The labelled cells appeared in the ipsilateral LC following injection of HRP into the unilateral OT in which the injecting areas located in the polymorphic layer of OT. The labelled cells gradually increased from the rostal part toward the eaudal part of LC. The amount of the labelled cells within LC was the most in the caudal 1/3 part. Less in the middle 1/3 part and the least in the rostal 1/3 part. The shaps of labelled cells in the back of LC are large fusiform and trigonal,and in the abdominal part of LC are small oval. This study indicate that the LC project to OT. |
