Abstract:Methionine restriction(MetR),as one of the methods of dietary restriction,can improve the aging and related diseasesof a variety of invertebrates,rodents and including human primates.However,the specific regulatory mechanism of MetR on aging has not been fully clarified.At present,in addition to the shared mechanism with dietary restriction,more and more studies have shown that endogenous hydrogen sulfide(H2S)may be the main mechanismof its effect.As a water-soluble and fat-soluble small molecule gas,hydrogen sulfide plays an important role in delaying the aging process and improving aging-related diseases.This review describes the mechanism of MetR delaying aging by increasing the activity of endogenous H2S.
