The effect of transcatheter arterial Infusion in the pain management for pancreatic carcinoma

Objective：To explore the effect of transcatheter arterial infusion（TAI） in the pain management for pancreatic carcinoma.Methods：Fifty-two patients with pancreatic carcinoma were recruited and divided into two groups randomly,each with 26 patients.3 patients in the control group were missing from follow ups.The treatment group was treated with TAI compared with the control group who received chemotherapy and morphine sulfate.The degree of pain was evaluated by numeric pain intensity scale（NPIS）.Results：The highest remission rate in the treatment group was 73%.However,it decreased as time passed and was only 15% eight weeks later.In the control group,the remission rate was 91% and did not change as time passed.There is no significant difference between the two groups′ remission rate.Conclusion：TAI is effective in relieving the pain of pancreatic carcinoma.
