Effect of Salmon Calcitonin on Low Back Pain and Bone Metabolism in Elderly Patients with Osteoporosis

Objective To investigate the efficacy of Salmon Calcitonin Injection in the treatment of elderly patients with osteoporosis and its effect on low back pain and bone metabolism.Methods Totally 100 elderly patients with osteoporosis admitted to Zaoyang First People’s Hospital from June 2018 to June 2019 were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method,50 cases in each group.The patients in the two groups were treated with routine oral administration,on this basis,the patients in the observation group were given an additional intramuscular injection of salmon calcitonin.Both groups were treated for 6 weeks.Results After the treatment,the visual analog scale(VAS)score in the two groups was lower than that before treatment,the level of parathyroid hormone(PTH)was decreased,the level of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3[1,25-(OH)D3]and the bone mineral density of femoral neck and L2-L4 lumbar vertebrae were increased,and those in the observation group were significantly better than those in the control group(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the observation group was better than that of the control group(92.00%vs.76.00%,P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions of the two groups was similar(28.00%vs.16.00%,P>0.05).Conclusion Salmon Calcitonin Injection is effective and safe in the treatment of elderly patients with osteoporosis,it can relieve low back pain,increase bone mineral density,and improve bone metabolism.
