Eff ect of Huatan Jieyu Decoction on HPA axis of CUMS depression model rats

Objective To observe the effect of Huatan Jieyu Decoction on ACTH and CORT in serum of depression rats,and to explore its effect on hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal(HPA)axis.Methods The depression rat model was established by chronic unpredictable mild stress(CUMS)and divided into control group,model group,fluoxetine hydrochloride group and Huatan Jieyu Decoction group.After the model was successfully made,the body weight and behavioral indexes were recorded and analyzed.Blood samples were collected after 21 days of administration,and the contents of ACTH and CORT in the samples were detected after centrifugation.Results Compared with the control group,the growth rate of body weight in the model group was slower than that in the control group,and the behavioral score was decreased,while the ACTH and CORT contents in the samples were increased.However,compared with the model group,Huatan Jieyu Decoction increased the speed of weight gain and behavioral score of rats,and at the same time reduced the content of ACTH and CORT in serum.Conclusion Huatan Jieyu Decoction can cure the depressive symptoms of depression model rats.The effect may be attributed to that Huatan Jieyu Decoction has a positive effect on the hyperfunction of HPA axis.
