Abstract:Inclusions in the erythrocytes of normal cats, called Schmauch bodies, havebeen demonstrated by means of phase contrast microscopy and supravitalstaining. A very wide range of their incidence, but no correlation with theage of animals has been noted. By their identical staining reactions andcommon morphologic characteristics Schmauch and Heinz bodies are quitesimilar, although they might be produced by quite different mechanisms.
