Abstract: | The solubilities in water of norethindrone and 7 of its derivatives have been measured and the results compared with the values predicted by a theory of additivity of group contributions to the free energy transfer of solutes between hydrocarbon and water. Since agreement between the two is reasonable, it was shown how the aqueous solubilities of very hydrophobic derivatives can be estimated where they are too low for measurement. |
