Abstract:Water soluble crude polysaccharides extracted from cultured cells of Panax ginseng were analysed and compared with those from the root of cultiveted Panax ginseng. While the percentage of crude polysaccharides and total sugar content was lower, the percentage of crude protein, ash and trace elements was higher in the former than in the latter. The chemical components of polysaccharides in cultured cells were almost the same as that in the root of cultivated Panax ginseng, which consists of rhamnose, arabinose, xylose, mannose and glucose. Some differences were found in the ratio among the monosaccharides when the two products were compared.
