Advance in the Research of α-hemoglobin Stabilizing Protein

Alpha hemoglobin stabilizing protein(AHSP)is a small protein with 102 amino acid residues which can specificly bind to free α-Hb and act as a chaperone protecting the alpha hemoglobin(α-Hb)chains against precipitation.AHSP could be a potential candidate for β-thalassemia therapy.This review describes the molecule mechanism of β-thalassemia and summarizes the most recent researches on AHSP.
