| Abstract: | An investigation on the nutritional conditions of the inhabitants in Kaschin-Beck disease affected and unaffected areas is reported in this paper. Our observation shows that the nutritional condition of the inhabitants in affected areas is as follows: plant foods account for 99.7% of all calorific value, proteins from cereals, beans and animal foods account for 87.2%, 7.0% and 0.4% of total protein, respectively, and the intake amount of main nutrients is be-low the criteria of providing amount in our country. In this paper, we focus on discussing the relationship between the decrease of disease incidence and the nutritional condition of the inhabitants in Yongshou with sodium selenite administration, moreover, we have put forward a suggestion on the improvement of the nutritional condition of the population in affected areas. |
