Clinical effect of digital surgical template in removing fracture implant in bone

Objective　To evaluate the use of digital surgical template in the removal of fracture implant in bone. Methods　A total of 11 patients were selected，who underwent intraosseous implant fracture removal in Center for Implant Dentistry in School and Hospital of Stomatology，China Medical University，from January 2010 to January 2020，and a retrospective analysis was carried out. Five fracture implants were removed by conventional trephine，and 6 fracture implants were removed by digital surgical templates. Evaluate the time of operation，the integrity of implant，incidence of complications and the degree of pain between the two methods. Results The operation time of the guide plate group was（16.00 ± 0.71）min，and the difference was statistically significant compared with that of the conventional group ［（23.00 ± 2.21）min］ （t = 3.022，P = 0.023）. There was no additional injury or any complication in the guide plate group；however，there were additional injuries with peripheral bone tissues，secondary fracture and one case of mental nerve injury in the conventional group. Nevertheless，there was no statistical difference in visual analogue scale（VAS）scores immediately after surgery or 3 d after surgery between the two groups（P > 0.05）. Conclusion Digital surgical template has good clinical effect and is worth applying in removal fracture implant.
