Abstract: | Infected pseudarthrosis are treated by removing infected and necrotic parts of soft tissues and bones, by stabilizing the fragments and by increasing the osteogenesis through bone grafts. This standardized technic was applied in 69 patients with infected pseudarthrosis. By using the procedure consequently in 61 cases a bony consolidation was achieved. 4,5 operations had to be performed in average. In all cases the extremity could bear full weight again. In most patients (78%) the infection disappeared without recurrence. 58 patients remained in hospital less than six months. In spite of all efforts in seven cases due to medical or social reasons an amputation had to be performed. |
