| Abstract: | Objective To assess the relationship among the fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose(FDG)uptake of 18F-FDG PET/CT image and regression speed of tumor during radiotherapy in patients with nasophageal carcinoma.Methods From March 2005 to August 2006,36 patients with nasophageal carcinoma were imaged with FDG positron emission tomography(PET).Their maximum and mean standard uptake value(SUVmax and SUVmean)were measured.Radiation therapy was deliverded to 36 cases and the dose at which nasophageal tumor completely retreated was recorded.Results The FDG uptake of tumors of 36 patients with nasophageal carcinoma were 9.45±1.87(SUV max) and 6.04±1.09(SUVmean)respectively.There were seven cases whose CR dose were more than 70Gy and twenty cases whose CR dose were below 70Gy,and the SUVmax of the seven cases were higher than that of the twenty seven cases.Conclusion The radiation sensitivity of tumors of nasophygeal carcinoma correlates with theirs′FDG uptake. |
