| Abstract: | Prone ventilation (PPV) is one of the effective treatment measures of protective lung ventilation for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which has the advantages of improving oxygenation and reducing ventilator-associated lung injury. However, PPV has not been widely used in clinical practice due to the lack of clinical understanding of PPV and the concern about its complications.This article reviews the mechanisms of PPV in the treatment of ARDS, the selection of suitable patients, possible complications and precautions.It is hoped to improve the application of PPV in the treatment of ARDS by clinicians and to reduce the mortality of ARDS patients. |
