Implantable Devices and Electrotherapy for Arrhythmias

Three decades of technologic advances have brought cardiology to the imminent realization of an all-purpose, multiprogrammable combination device. A pacemaker for all rhythms, it will provide antibradycardia backup, antitachycardia pacing, low-output cardioversion, and defibrillation backup. The present state of the art is reviewed.
