The Clinic Roles of Capsule Endoscopy in Intestinal Diseases

Capsule endoscopy （CE） has been widely used in clinical practice and accepted as a first-line diagnostic modality for small intestine diseases. The most common indications are obscure GI bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease, and neoplastic lesions. This article analyses with emphasis on the diagnostic yields of capsule endoscopy, and the diagnostic roles in obscure GI bleeding and neoplastic lesions, and the screening roles of small intestinal lesions in the healthy objects, and the impacts of bowel preparation for capsule endoscopy improved small-bowel mucosal visualization.
