Application of Fractional Flow Reserve in Coronary Intervention

Fractional flow reserve（FFR） is defined as the ratio of maximal blood flow in a stenotic artery to normal maximal flow.It is an index of the physiological significance of a coronary stenosis.The information provided by FFR is similar to that obtained with myocardial perfusion studies,but it is more specific and has better spatial resolution.FFR assists in deciding upon an interventional therapy strategy;especially in instances with complex lesions.Retrospective studies suggest that in patients with coronary artery disease,FFR-guided PCI is associated with a favorable outcome.Furthmore,FFR after stenting assists in the prediction of adverse events.
