Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect applying steam cleaning machine in cleaningmedical instruments provided by other companies such as files. Methods Eighty sets of medical instruments received byJieyang People's Hospital from other companies from March to May 2021 were setas an observation group, and were cleaned by the steam cleaning machine. Andeighty sets of medical devices instruments received by Jieyang People'sHospital from September to November 2020 were set as a control group, and werecleaned by ultrasound and high-pressure water gun before machine cleaning.After finishing the cleaning procedure, the cleaning effects of the two groupswere evaluated by the visual method and protein residue test. The comparisonbetween groups was performed by χ2 test. Results The qualified ratesdetected by the visual method and protein residue test in the observation groupwere significantly higher than those in the control group [100.00% (80/80) vs.90% (72/80) and 96.25% (77/80) vs. 86.25% (69/80)], with statisticaldifferences (χ2=8.421 and5.010; P=0.004 and 0.025). Conclusion The application ofsteam cleaning machine in cleaning medical instruments provided by othercompanies such as files can improve the cleaning effect, ensure the safety ofmedical instruments, and provide references for the improvement of the cleaningoperation procedures of such instruments.
