Nursing care of senile melanosis coli complicated with advanced rectal cancer

Objective　To summarize the perioperative nursing of an elderly patient withmelanosis coli (MC) and advanced rectal cancer. Methods　A patient with MC and advanced rectal cancer received perioperativenursing, and the literatures were studied. Results　Preoperative individualized comprehensive evaluation was performed,pulmonary function exercise was strengthened, and effective psychologicalintervention and adequate intestinal preparation were taken. Reasonablepostoperative nutritional support was given, multi-mode analgesic strategy wasimplemented, pipeline nursing was strengthened, the nursing of melanosiscolostomy was paid attention to, the disease changes was closely observed, thecomplications were actively prevented and treated, and the health education andguidance were strengthened. After 19 days' careful treatment and nursing, thepatient recovered and was discharged from the hospital. Conclusions　MC is rare in clinic, and it is rarely reported that it is associatedwith rectal cancer. The perioperative nursing was summarized for clinicalreferences.
