Effect of Magu Xujin Capsules Combined with Minimally Invasive Percutaneous Pedicle Screw Fixation on Fracture Healing in Patients with Thoracolumbar Vertebral Compression Fracture

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Magu Xujin Capsules combined with minimally invasive percutaneous pedicle screw fixation on fracture healing in patients with thoracolumbar vertebral compression fracture.Methods A total of 96 patients with thoracolumbar vertebral compression fractures admitted to the hospital from January 2018 to January 2020 were selected and randomly divided into the observation group and the control group,with 48 cases in each group.The patients in the two groups were treated with minimally invasive percutaneous pedicle screw fixation,on this basis,the patients in the observation group were treated with Magu Xujin Capsules.Both groups were continously treated for three months.Results After the operation,one case was lost to follow-up in the observation group,two cases were lost to follow-up in the control group,and the above patients were excluded.After operation,the fracture line disappearance time,callus formation time,fracture healing time in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05),and the visual analogue scale(VAS)score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).After operation,the anterior body height and posterior body height of the injured vertebra in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group,while the Cobbs angle in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).After operation,the levels of serum alkaline phosphatase(ALP),typeⅠprocollagen amino-terminal propeptide(PINP)and osteocalcin(BPG)in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)and fibroblast growth factor(FGF)in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).During the treatment,the incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was similar to that in the control group(14.89%vs.8.70%,P>0.05).Conclusion Magu Xujin Capsules combined with minimally invasive percutaneous pedicle screw fixation is effective and safe in the treatment of patients with thoracolumbar vertebral compression fractures,which can promote fracture healing,restore the normal physiological structure of the injured vertebra,reduce postoperative pain,improve bone metabolism,and the level of various growth factors.
