KAP Survey on Medication Behavior Risk Among Residents in Huangshi Area

Objective To improve the medication safety of residents,and to promote rational drug use.Methods The knowledge-attitude-practice(KAP)of medication use among residents in Huangshi area from July to September 2020 was investigated.The risk level of medication use,the current situation of safe medication education among different populations,and the influencing factors of medication behavior risk were analyzed.The questionnaire KAP Survey and Research on Medication Behavior Risk of Chinese Residents was adopted,and the results were scored according to the 6-level scale.The medication behavior risk level of residents(KAP scores of medication knowledge,behavior before medication and behavior during medication,the frequency and attitude of exposure to medication knowledge education activities)was analyzed,and the high risk of medication in different populations was counted,and the high-risk rate was calculated.Results A total of 316 valid questionnaires were obtained,with an effective recovery rate of 94.01%.The KAP scores of residents'medication knowledge,behavior before and during the medication indicated that residents'medication behavior was low risk.The KAP scores of residents'behavior before medication and during medication were higher in male,self-paid medical expense,non-medical institution groups(P<0.05).The high-risk rate of medication knowledge was higher among over 50 years old,educational level with technical secondary school or high school and below,and non-medical institution groups(P<0.05).The high-risk rate of behavior before medication was higher in male and non-medical institution groups(P<0.05).The high-risk rate of behavior was higher among self-paid medical expense,educational level with technical secondary school or high school or below,no/unemployed and non-medical institution groups(P<0.05).Precisely 30.52%of the residents had never been exposed to lectures on medication knowledge or participated in medication education activities,62.11%of the residents thought that it was necessary or extremely necessary to carry out different forms of medication education.Conclusion Residents in the Huangshi area have unhealthy medication behavior and potential security concerns,and their awareness of safe medication needs to be improved.Medication safety has scientific,professional and complex characteristics.The medication safety risk is greatly affected by age and education.It is necessary to improve the medical workers'medication safety awareness in order to promote home pharmaceutical care and reduce the medication safety risk.
