A Meta-analysis of the Efficacy and Safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine Combined with Tamsulosin in the Treatment of Middle and Lower Ureteral Calculi

Objective:To systematically review the clinical effect and safety of tamsulosin combined with traditional Chinese medicine in patients with middle and lower ureteral calculi.Methods:Randomized controlled trials in Wanfang,CNKI,VIP,Cochrane Library and PubMed were searched by computer from the establishment of the database to May 2021 and RevMan5.3 software and Stata14.0 were used for meta-analysis.Results:8 studies(n=932 cases)were finally included,and the overall quality of the included studies was not high.The meta-analysis results showed that when compared with the control group,the experimental group treated with traditional Chinese medicine combined with tamsulosin were as follows:(1)The stone clearance rate was improved(OR=3.72,95%CI:3.56-5.45,P<0.00001).(2)The average stone excretion time was shortened by 3.82 days(95%CI:-4.40~-3.24,P<0.00001).(3)The incidence of renal colic was decreased(OR=0.34,95%CI:0.21~0.54,P<0.00001).The use rate of analgesics was decreased(OR=0.32,95%CI:0.19-0.55,P<0.00001).The incidence of adverse reactions was not statistically significant(OR=0.7,95%CI:0.36-1.35,P=0.28).Conclusion:Traditional Chinese medicine combined with tamsulosin in the treatment of middle and lower ureteral calculi patients can significantly improve the stone excretion rate,shorten the average stone excretion time and reduce the incidence of renal colic and the use rate of analgesics.The combination of TCM and western medicine is better than single tamsulosin treatment.
