Study of the status and influential factors of occupational stress among nurses in Urumqi

Objective To explore the status and influential factors of occupational stress among nurses in Urumqi. Methods Occupational Stress Inventory Revised Edition and a self - designed questionnaire about general information were used to investigate 500 nurses from a 3A - Revel cancer hospital and a general hospital in Urnmqi. Results The scores of occupational tasks （ 182.56 ± 19.72） and individual stress responses （ 110.47± 15.01 ） of nurses were significantly higher than the internal norm（ P 〈 0.01 ）. The score of coping resources （ 119.86 ± 18.81 ） of nurses was statistically lower than the internal norm （P 〈0.01 ）. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the main factors affecting occupational tasks were nationality,age and position ,and the main influential factors of individual stress responses were marital status, children, position and types of hospital, the main influential factors of personal resources were marital status, position and education level. Conclusion Nursing managers should pay attention to occupational stress of nurses in Urumqi, and take targeted measures according to the above influential faetors so as to reduce the level of occupational stress in nurses.
