Abstract: | Between January, 1975, and December, 1984, at the University of Michigan Medical Center, 17 boys with leukemia presented with overt or occult isolated testicular relapse. Diagnosis was obtained by bilateral open-wedge biopsies of the testes. All the patients were treated with combined local testicular irradiation and systemic chemotherapy. In only 1 of the 17 patients (6%) testicular leukemia developed as the only site of relapse. It appears that doses in the range of 2,000 to 2,400 cGy in 10 to 12 fractions achieve optimum control of leukemic infiltration of the testes. |
