Abstract: | Adulteration of a chow diet with 0.75% quinine sulfate produces a short-lived decrement in food intake in both ad lib-fed and previously food-restricted adult female rats. In contrast, quinine produces a long-lasting depression in body weight; ad lib access to quinine-treated chow results in a plateauing of body weight at a lower level until quinine is removed from the diet, despite recovery of food intake. |
