博弈是人类最古老的社会活动之一 ,它构成了一个科学研究的理想对象。因为中西文化具有不同的特质 ,中西学者对这一对象的研究的角度和方法都有明显的差别。西方从赌博数学中产生出了概率论这一数学分支 ,而在中国由于没有较好地研究偶然事件发生的概率 ,造成在概率计算上水平很低的结果 ,所取的唯一方法只能是将问题分解成简单的子问题 ,然后把这些子问题理想化。但另一方面 ,中国积累了大量博弈理论方面的文献 ,对这些文献的研究对当前的博弈论发展仍然具有重要的参考价值。这一科学史事例表明 ,多元文化是当代科学进步不可或缺的社会环境
