Teaching hospitals, universities part ways

For financial and autonomy reasons, university teaching hospitals are splitting away from their sponsoring academic institutions. Sometimes the hospital wants more freedom to react to the healthcare market. But sometimes it's the university that wants to distance itself from the hospital and the accompanying charity load.
