Abstract:
A patient who developed osteomalacia while receiving phenytoin sodium 200–300 mg daily for 8 years for treatment of a seizure disorder is reported. In addition, this patient had folic acid deficiency. Throughout the patient received only phenytoin sodium. Recent reports of abnormalities of calcium metabolism due to anticonvulsant drugs are reviewed.
