太阳病以"脉浮、头项强痛而恶寒"为提纲。"有一分恶寒,便有一分表证","恶寒"是表证的特征性表现,太阳病是六经辨病中疾病传变过程的开始阶段,表证是八纲辨证里外感症状的集合,太阳病不等于表证。
