Abstract:Inhaled powder aerosol has been a research hotspot in improving the treatment of lung diseases. It has the unique characteristics of diverse marketed products, mature production process, multiple influencing factors of particles and crystal transformation and varations in particle surface properties. Currently there are some outstanding problems in the study of inhalation powder aerosol, such as product effectiveness, correlation between storage and production process factors, and so on. This review introduced new technologies for preparing inhalation powder aerosols, such as spray freeze drying, microfluidic spray, template printing and physicochemical characterization of powder particles, including reverse gas chromatography, atomic force microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray and time-of-flight ion mass spectrometry to provide rationales for the development of inhaled powder aerosol.
