Discussion on pharmaceutical care model for traditional Chinese pharmacists at a 3-A provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital

OBJECTIVE To explore the feasibility of pharmaceutical care model for dispensing traditional Chinese pharmacists collaborating with physicians and nurses at a traditional Chinese medicine hospital.METHODS Based upon the theoretical basis of traditional Chinese medicine and mode of diagnosis and treatments, an overall work plan was drafted. A total of 430 patients from 10 departments who had received traditional Chinese pharmacists' instructions between 14 days for 4 times during treatments from September to November 2020 were surveyed by questionnaire for evaluating service outcomes by discussing in working groups periodically. The scores before and after medication were compared and analyzed by SPSS 20.0 software.RESULTS The results showed that significant differences existed among the 8 items in the questionnaire. Among them, the difference before and after "arbitrary dose reduction or discontinuation" was the most obvious.CONCLUSION Multiple clinical service modes of traditional Chinese pharmacists during hospitalization improve the patients' medication compliance, enhance the utilization of drugs and boost the efficacy of clinical diagnosis and treatments.
