Impact of experiential health education on self-management of patients with hypertension

Objective To explore the effect of experiential health education on the medication compliance, self-management and blood pressure of patients with hypertension. Methods Eighty-seven hypertensives admitted to our hospital in 2019 were selected and randomly divided into an observation group(n=42) and a control group(n=45). Both groups received conventional health education, while the observation group additionally experienced hypertension cerebrovascular sequelae. Before as well as 1 and 3 months after the intervention, the 2 groups were compared their medication compliance, self-management and blood pressure. Results After the intervention, the medication compliance, self-management and blood pressure of the observation group were significantly better than that of the control group (F_inter-group=4.498,P=0.037; F_inter-group=4.213,P=0.043; Z=-2.452, P=0.014). Conclusion Experiential health education can significantly improve medication compliance, self-management and blood pressure of patients with hypertension, which can be applied in the continuous nursing of such patients.
