Abstract: | Anti-inflammatory treatment is routinely prescribed to all patients after cataract surgery to prevent intraocular inflammation. A review of the literature was conducted to determine the optimal control of postcataract surgery inflammation. Intraocular steroid delivery systems, safer steroids, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have been found to be beneficial. Selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors may circumvent many side effects of the earlier agents. The authors have stated that they do not have a significant financial interest or other relationship with any product manufacturer or provider of services discussed in this article. |
