Abstract:Attempts to determine the function of the L3T4 (CD4) T-cell antigen are based largely upon the use of anti-L3T4 antibodies to prevent normal L3T4+ cell function. According to Brett Charlton and colleagues, recent work in vivo aimed at separating the blocking and cell-depleting effects of anti-L3T4 antibodies suggests that L3T4+ cell function can be disrupted without significant cell depletion.
