Abstract:Objective To evaluate the changesand mechanisms of Ureaplasma urealyticum(UU) drug resistance to tetracyclines. Methods The secretion specimens collected from patients with the non-gonoccocal urethritis (NGU) were tested by the methods of incubating and drug susceptibility. The TetM genes were determined by PCR.Results There were no significant variance of the resistance to tetracyclines in Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU)during 2003-2005 years. The resistant rates of DOX, MIN were 5.6%and 7.7%(2003year),5.4%and 5.5%(2004 year),8.2%and 7.6%(2005 year),respectively. The positive rates of TetM genes in these samples resisting to DOX and MIN simultaneously were 100%(20/20).Conclusion The Tetracyclines are sensitivity drugs for UU yet;The TetM gene is the main cause for UU resisting to tetracyclines.
Keywords:Ureaplasma urealyticum  Polymerase chain reaction  Drug resistance  Tet M  Tetracyclines
