| Abstract: | Determination of HBV DNA in saliva, urine, seminal fluid and spermatozoa among 87 males who or whose wives were infected by HBV were reported in this paper. The results showed that the positive rate of HBV DNA by spot hybridization was 13.8% in seminal fluid and 10.3% in saliva With spot hybridization, HBV DNA was also found in the spermatozoa of an individual. His wife was HBsAg carrier and HBV markers in his serum were negative except anti-HBs. The tilers of HBsAg and positive rate of HBV DNA in sera were higher in those with HBV DNA in seminal fluid than in those without HBV DNA, but there were not significant differences among them. The positive rate of anti-HBc IgM was higher among those with HBV DNA in their seminal fluids than among those without one (P<0.01). The present findings support the hypothesis about transmission of HBV via the germ line. |
