Effectiveness of H1N1 influenza split-virus vaccine in emergency vaccination at Baoshan of Yunnan

Objective To understand distribution characteristics of influenza A/H1N1 cases and effectiveness of influenza A/H1N1 split-virus vaccine during 2009~2010 in Baoshan,Yunnan to provide scientific evidence for its use.Methods Distribution characteristics of influenza A/H1N1 cases during October 2009 to July 2011 before and after vaccination in Baoshan city,Yunnan were analyzed retrospectively.Results Overall coverage of influenza A/H1N1 vaccine in Baoshan was 6.26 percent,the highest in students（73.44%）.In total,68 cases of influenza A/H1N1 occurred in Baoshan before emergency vaccination,with an overall incidence of 2.77 per 100000 population,the highest in young adults and the able-bodied.Overall incidence of influenza A/H1N1 in susceptible population was significantly lower after emergency vaccination than that before it（P0.05）.Incidence of influenza A/H1N1 in inoculated population was significantly lower than that in non-inoculated ones（χ2=4.134,P0.05）.Conclusion Use of influenza A/H1N1 split-virus vaccine is effective for prevention and control of influenza A/H1N1 epidemic in Baoshan.
