Advance in Targeted Therapy for Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma

Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma is a rare thyroid tumor,which is the main cause of death due to poorly differentiated and highly invasive tumor cells.Although traditional surgery or chemoradiotherapy has yielded encouraging results in anaplastic thyroid cancer,there is still no solution for anplastic thyroid carcinoma.Targeted therapy is a rapidly developed treatment method for advanced tumors in recent years.The mechanism of targeted therapy is to kill tumor cells at the cellular and molecular levels without damaging normal cells through specifically binding to or blocking the identified oncogenic sites with drugs.With the deepening of clinical trials of targeted therapy,it has been found that targeted therapy has an obvious effect on improving the overall survival of patients with anaplastic thyroid carcinoma.Therefore,it has gradually become one of the research hotspots in the treatment of anaplastic thyroid cancer.In this paper,the progress of targeted therapy in anaplastic thyroid carcinoma is reviewed based on the recent studies on targeted drugs for anaplastic thyroid cancer.
