Abstract: | Virus-like particles were isolated from the Blood IIIBlood III cell line of Drosophila melanogaster by sucrose and cesium chloride density centrifugation. The particles have a buoyant density of 1.37 g/cm3 in cesium chloride and a diameter of 568 Å The viral genome contains double-stranded RNA by the criteria of resistance to ribonuclease A and nuclease S1. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis resolves the RNA into 10-segments and an additional minor component rangina in molecular weight from 0.55 × 106 to 2.75 × 106. |
