Abstract:Objective To study the relationship of the expression of gastrin and oncogene c myc , c fos , ras p21 with AgNORs counting in colorectal carcinoma tissue and its clinical significance. Methods The expression of gastrin and c myc, c fos ras p21 of carcinoma tissue in 48 cases were detected with S P immunocytochemical method. The argyrophilia nucleolar organizer regions (AgNORs) was counted with modified Ag stain and, their expression in the mucosa 3 cm, 6 cm adjacent to carcinoma tissue and normal colorectal mucosa were also counted to be used in comparison. Results The positive expression rate of gastrin, c myc, c fos and ras p21 and AgNORs counting in carcinoma tissue were significantly higher than that in mucosa 3 cm, 6 cm adjacent to carcinoma tissue and normal colorectal mucosa( P <0.01 all). The positive expression rate of gastrin was significantly higer in highly differentiated adenocarcinoma group than in poorly differentiated and mucinous adenocarcinoma group( P <0.05). The positive expression rate of c myc and c fos and AgNORs counting were siginificantly higher in gastrin positive group than in gastrin negative group( P <0.05, P <0.01). Conclusion Certain colorectal carcinoma cells can form and secrete gastrin through autocrine and mediate the proliferation of carcinoma cells through the modulation of the amplification of oncogene c myc, c fos and ras p21.
