Abstract: | Thirteen strains of tobacco mosaic virus have been isolated from field-grown tomatoes at widely scattered locations around the world. An analysis of their protein components showed a remarkably close relationship among these strains in amino acid composition, C-terminal amino acid, general amino acid sequence as indicated by peptide mapping, and in serological reactions. Five of the strains have amino acid compositions identical to that of tomato atypical mosaic virus (Y-TAMV); seven show one exchange and one shows two exchanges. |
