Abstract: | Unselected eye and genital specimens from 233 patients were cultured for Chlamydia. The isolation rates were compared using McCoy cells and Buffalo green monkey cells, both procedures being performed with and without the addition of cycloheximide and centrifugation. No significant difference was found in the isolation rates using the four methods. The characteristics of the two cell lines and the advantages of omitting cycloheximide treatment and centrifugation are discussed. |
