Biomarkers and Environmental Toxicology
Abstract:S3-1 Nutrient-gene interactions in chronic arsenic poisoning GUO Xin-Biao(Department of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences,School of Public Health, Peking University,Beijing 100083, ChinaArsenic exposure has been associated with the development of skin lesions such as hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation and hyperkeratosis, which may be harbingers of increased risk for cancers of the skin, bladder, lung and other organs. The primary metabolic pathway of ingested inorganic arsenic in humans is methylation. In human, however, there is considerable inter-individual variability in the proportions of different methylated arsenic metabolites such as monomethylarsonic acid (MMA) and dimethylarsinic acid (DMA) in urine.
