Abstract:AIM: To investigate the relationship between the influence of rotating and stationary magnetic field on neuroendocrine and its analgesic effect so as to explore the analgesic mechanism of magnetic field. METHODS: New Zealand rabbits and voluntary patients with pain were treated with magnetic field, using the HMF-6 000 multifunctional therapeutic equipment(magnetic field intensity of 0. 6 T and rotational speed of 240 r/ min). Blood samples were collected before and after the treatment to measure the contents of plasma β-endorphin with radioimmunoassy. RESULTS:The mean plasma β-endorphin concentration of rabbits after the magnetic field treatment was (83.7 ± 9.8) pmol/L, significantly higher than that before the magnetic field treatment[ (38.3± 15.2)pmol/L] (t = 8.69, P < 0.01 ). The mean plasma β-endorphin concentration of the patients with pain after the magnetic field treatment was (58.2 ± 21.6) pmol/L, significantly higher than that before the magnetic field management[ (8.7 ± 3.0) pmo/L] ( t = 12.48, P < 0.01 ). However, the concentration of plas- ma β-endorphin patients in the control group was not significantly different after fake magnetic field management [ (8.7 ± 0.5 ) pmol/L vs (9.4 ± 0.7) pmo/L](t= 1.00, P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Magnetic field management increases the blood concentration of plasma β-endorphin, which may be the internal basis of analgesic effect of magnetic field management.
