Discussion on the analysis of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation in COVID-19

[Objective] To explore the analysis of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation in COVID-19, and provide reference for clinical syndrome differentiation treatment.[Methods] The TCM syndromes and tongue images of 45 COVID-19 patients diagnosed in fever eight wards of Wuhan Red Cross Hospital were investigated and statistically analyzed at admission, 3 days after admission and 7 days after admission.[Results] The main symptoms of 45 patients were fever (64.44%), cough (75.56%), fatigue (55.56%) and expectoration (48.89%). Three days after admission, the main symptoms of TCM were cough (66.67%), expectoration (55.56%), shortness of breath (55.56%) and fatigue (46.67%). Seven days after admission, the main symptoms were dry mouth (55.56%), bitter taste (51.11%), loss of appetite (26.67%), cough (46.67%) and expectoration (42.22%).[Conclusion] In the early stage of TCM syndrome differentiation of COVID-19 patients, the main syndrome differentiation is evil invading lung. In the early-middle stage of disease development, damp evil blocked the lung mainly, and in the middle stage, it changed into evil impinges the shaoyang and damp evil blocks the middle burner mainly.
