Clinical study of transumbilical single port laparoscopic cholecystectomy

Objective To evaluate the safety and feasibility of transumbilical single-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC).Methods The clinical data of 40 cases underwent single-port LC were summarized.Results Thirty-seven patients were operated successfully,the operative duration varied from 48 min to 130 min,with the average of 71 min.Estimated blood loss in operation varied from 1 mL to 30 mL.The hospital stay varied from 3 d to 5 d,with the average of 3.6 d,no short-term or long-term complications were observed during follow-up of 3~24 months.Their abdominal incision scars were inconspicuous.Two patients converted to three-port LC and one patient converted to open cholecystectomy.Conclusion With skilled surgical technique and experience of tranditional LC,single-port LC can be safely carried out with advantages of mini-invasion,small scar,and cosmetic effect,which is worthy of spread.
