| Abstract: | A monoclonal antibody specific for an epitope of a 50 kDaPlasmodium falciparumantigen was used in an enzyme immunoassay for detection of the corresponding exo-antigen in culture supernatant and in the sera of 31 patients suffering from acute malaria. The assay was specific forPlasmodium falciparumand did not appear to be strain restricted. A parasitaemia level below 0.001 % could be detected. |
